What Precisely Is Famanon?

A worldwide organisation of friends and family members influenced by someone else's substance abuse, or similar problems, is called Family Anonymous. Fam Anon offer support groups gatherings, on a regular basis, throughout the country. Even if the issue is only suspected, any worried individual is stimulated to attend these gatherings.

In 1971, the Fam Anon was founded by a group of families in America. They started their first group in London in 1980, and now around 50 groups are working in different areas of the country.

Fam Anon fellowship member groups are self-help organization that run 12 Steps and 12 Traditions programs founded on the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous.

How Can It Help?

The group's goal is to support families and friends of persons with the present, potential or past drug related issues by offering mutual support and a place to share experiences and concerns. Group members learn how to adjust, cope, encourage and support loved ones under the influence of addiction.

Experience has shown that help for the drug-dependent person means help for the family and friends.

Group meetings encourage addicts to learn from others experience how to quit addiction. This type of relationship often influence the addict and makes him/her want to live drug-free life.

Families Anonymous works in so many ways. Its core strength originates from sharing of general issues. No fee is required for membership or meetings. FamAnon does not ask for, neither accepts any money from sources outside of the organisation. The whole office and work is financed and supported through our volunteers contributions and offers by Fam Anon writings.
